Colin Stanbridge, chief executive of the London chamber said that the days of smoky bars are on their way out, by popular demand.
The research also showed that smokers make up about a quarter of the population but between 40 and 60 per cent of pub-goers.
Simon Emeny, managing director of Fullers Inns, said: "We are approaching the ban with enthusiasm, it could be entirely good news for pubs by opening up the market to a whole new customer base."
